The application of solar power generation in the water treatment industry

Author:

As an inexhaustible renewable green energy, solar energy has broad application fields and good development prospects with its unique advantages. As one of many solar energy development and utilization, solar power generation has the characteristics of non-pollution, renewable, flexible and storable. In recent years, with China's strong support for the development of distributed photovoltaics, a new stage of marketization of photovoltaic applications has begun. In recent years, photovoltaic power generation systems have been practically applied in road lighting, residential buildings and other fields. The water treatment industry is also suitable for the application of photovoltaic power generation systems with its unique industry characteristics.

In the water treatment industry, photovoltaic power generation systems have the following advantages:

(1) There is no obstruction from high-rise buildings around.

Water treatment plants are mostly located in areas where industrial enterprises are relatively concentrated and remote, and the surrounding buildings are mostly buildings with low heights such as industrial sites, and the photovoltaic power generation system of water treatment plants has less occlusion. At the same time, due to the requirements of the water treatment plant's own building conditions, its various structures and building units themselves have low heights, sparse layouts, and are difficult to block, so they have good lighting conditions.

(2) The installable roof area is large.

Due to the needs of the process, the water treatment plant has a large area of buildings, such as the rebellion pool, the second sedimentation tank, the blower room, etc., and there is a large photovoltaic system installation space above such buildings. In addition, the photovoltaic power generation system of the water treatment plant is mostly a rooftop distributed photovoltaic system, which does not involve new land, does not change land use, does not affect the requirements of cultural relics protection, does not increase the construction area, and does not change the building structure.

(3) Improve the process treatment effect.

The reasonable arrangement and design of the photovoltaic power generation system of the water treatment plant can reduce the evaporation of the pool water, increase the amount of water treatment, reduce the impact of sewage evaporation on the environment, reduce the wind speed on the pool, improve the local small environment, increase the temperature of the pool water, improve the growth activity of microorganisms, improve the sewage treatment effect, improve the water treatment capacity and the comprehensive economic benefits of the project.

(4) The water treatment plant has large and stable electricity consumption.

The load of water treatment plant includes high-power loads such as blowers and submersible sewage pumps, as well as low-power loads such as gates, grids, and submersible flow pushers, and its calculated power is often large. Moreover, due to the water balance, the operation of each process equipment is stable, and the load characteristics are stable, which is convenient for the design of photovoltaic power generation systems.

(5) Photovoltaic electric energy can be consumed on site.

Due to the large power consumption and small change of the load of the water treatment plant, the reasonable design of the photovoltaic system can make full use of the photovoltaic electric energy, avoid the waste of electric energy of the photovoltaic system, and reduce the polishing rate.

(6) Good financing conditions.

Water treatment plants usually have a long operating cycle, guaranteed operation, stable benefits, high spontaneous utilization rate, and high return on investment, which can avoid the problem of financing difficulties.

(7) Low maintenance cost.

After the PV system is completed, in addition to the equipment damage caused by force majeure factors, the operating cost of solar photovoltaic power generation is mainly maintenance costs such as cleaning water. The degree of cleaning of effluent or grey water of sewage treatment plants can meet the cleaning needs of photovoltaic modules. At the same time, the cleaned water source can be directly collected into the human sewage treatment process, thereby saving water and reducing maintenance costs.
